Since 1988, the Reach for a Dream Foundation has brought hope, joy and healing to countless children by encouraging them to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses.
Dream Rooms, where magic and healing meet
The Foundation introduced Dream Rooms in 2017 as a cherished retreat within hospitals for children and their families.
These whimsical sanctuaries create an atmosphere that nurtures imagination, play and learning, allowing children to experience the joy and magic of childhood, which is often lost to an illness.
Plus, each room has its own resident psychology graduate who organises fun and educational activities to help children meet their developmental milestones.
How can you help?
From 15 May 2025 to 12 June 2025, you can donate your Ðiscovery Miles to Reach for a Dream through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app or Discovery Bank app:
- For 200 Ðiscovery Miles, you can support the makeover of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital's Dream Room, an uplifting space that brings joy to children with cancer.
- For 1,000 Ðiscovery Miles, you can contribute towards an early childhood development programme in Dream Rooms, guided by skilled interns who help children reach essential developmental milestones during their hospital stay.
- For 2,500 Ðiscovery Miles, , you can help equip the Dream Rooms with puzzles, art supplies, board games and learning toys that support development and bring joy to children in hospital.
How to donate to Vitality MoveToGive
- Activate Vitality Active Rewards in the latest version of the Discovery app.
- Achieve your exercise, drive or spend goals to earn a play on the gameboard.
- Pick a tile on the gameboard to reveal Ðiscovery Miles.
- Spend your Ðiscovery Miles on Vitality MoveToGive charity donations in the Vitality Mall.
Or... donate in a tap on your banking app!
Select Vitality MoveToGive as an instant reward option in the Discovery Bank app when you achieve your goals. Simply:
- Log in to your banking app.
- Scroll down and select Vitality Active Rewards.
- Select Instant Rewards.
- Choose the MoveToGive option.
- Tap Get your instant reward and select Confirm.
