Firing up a Force for Good
From fighting fires to igniting hope, Discovery Insure is making a difference, putting out one blaze at a time.
This year, International Firefighters' Day was marked on 4 May. It was a day where we saluted our Fire Force team who battle flames and save lives across Johannesburg - a city where a fire occurs every six hours.
In line with Discovery Insure's shared value principles of making our clients' lives better and the lives of communities, Fire Force was launched in 2022. With its blue trucks and trained firefighters, Fire Force operates with a robust fire response network.
FIRE FORCE SUCCESSES
Since its inception, we're proud to share that the Discovery Insure Fire Force has saved many lives and doused countless flames. The team's successes include:
- Putting out 195 veld fires
- Attending to 107 motor vehicle incidents
- Fighting 533 structure fires
A FORCE FOR GOOD
On average, our Fire Force responds to four fires a week across Joburg. Thanks to our dedicated team of trained and experienced firefighters, Fire Force is helping keep our clients, communities, and city safe.
