Who is eligible for the Digital Life Plan?
Discovery clients are eligible for the The Digital Life Plan. The application and underwriting process are completed entirely within the Discovery Bank app, making it a digital-only offering.
How much life cover can I get?
You can apply for up to R3 million in life cover. The policy is serviced through Discovery Life, ensuring you have the backing of South Africa's leading life insurer.
Can I add other benefits can I add to my plan?
Yes, you can add on other benefits to your Digital Life Plan. Beyond life cover, you can customise your policy with the optional Advanced Illness and Disability Benefit to provide additional financial protection if you experience a life-changing illness or injury. Some exclusions based on existing Life cover, age limits and credit ratings may apply.
How does the Digital Life Plan MilesBack reward work?
The Digital Life Plan MilesBack reward gives you the ability to earn up to 20% of your premiums back in Ðiscovery Miles directly into your Ðiscovery Miles Account when you pay your Digital Life Plan debit order from your Discovery Bank account.
To qualify for the maximum reward, you simply need to engage with Vitality Health and Vitality Money.

How does the 48-hour payout work?
In the event of a claim due to death, the Digital Life Plan provides an immediate payment of R50,000 from your life cover, paid within 48 hours. This is designed to provide your family with quick liquidity during a difficult time.
Is there any manual paperwork involved in applying for a Discovery Digital Life Plan?
No, there is no manual paper involved in the process of applying for the Discovery Digital Life Plan. The entire process - from application and underwriting to receiving your quote - is 100% digital and takes place in the Discovery Bank app.
Can I get the Digital Life Plan if I already have a Discovery Life product?
Yes, you can apply for the Digital Life Plan if you already have an individual Discovery Life product or Discovery Life group life product through your employer. Some exclusions based on amount of existing Life cover.
How do I manage my policy after it's activated?
To manage your policy after it's activated, simply log into the Discovery Bank app > tap on the Life icon in the top navigation pane > Digital Life Plan tile to see your dashboard. You can view your cover amount, policy status, and reward progress at any time directly in the Discovery Bank app.

What is the process for making a claim?
To initiate the process for making a claim, your loved ones should contact Discovery Life immediately. One of the standout features of the Digital Life Plan is the Immediate Payment benefit, which ensures a payout of R50,000 within 48 hours of death to help cover immediate costs.

Can I cancel my policy if I change my mind?
Yes, you can cancel your policy if you change your mind You have a 31-day cooling-off period from the date your policy starts. If you decide the plan isn't right for you within this window, you can cancel it and receive a refund of any premiums already paid, provided no claim has been made. To process a cancellation, please contact the Discovery Life team.

Getting started with Discovery Insure
How can I start a Discovery Insure policy in the Discovery Bank app?
To start a Discovery Insure policy in the Discovery Bank app, tap the new product menu at the top of your Home screen, then select Insure and follow the steps to get a quote. You only qualify to do this if you don't yet have any Discovery Insure policies.
Can I insure more than one vehicle?
You can insure more than one vehicle in the Discovery Bank app. You'll be able to add extra vehicles. Then simply follow the steps for each vehicle.
If I already have a Discovery Insure policy, can I add a new policy in the banking app?
If you already have a Discovery Insure policy, you can't add a new policy in the banking app. Please call Discovery Insure on 0860 751 751 for help.
Why don't I see an option to get a quote with Discovery Insure in the Discovery Bank app?
You don't see an option to get a quote with Discovery Insure in the Discovery Bank app because some clients may not qualify for insurance. Reasons include:
- Already having insurance with Discovery Insure
- Being under the age of 18.
Why can't I get a quote for household or combined household and vehicle insurance in the Discovery Bank app?
You can't get a quote for household or combined household and vehicle insurance in the Discovery Bank app because only a consultant can prepare an accurate, individual quote for you. They'll get your details from the app and call to give you a quote.
Can I get insurance for my motorbike, boat or jet ski in the app?
You can't get insurance for your motorbike, boat, jet ski or other vehicle types in the app. For now, the Discovery Bank app only offers quotes for motor vehicles.
Can I get insurance for someone other than myself?
You can get insurance for someone other than yourself if you're the plan holder and the other person is the primary driver of the vehicle you want to insure.
My insurance was cancelled a long time ago. Must I still declare it?
Even if your insurance was cancelled a long time ago, the law still requires you to declare this.
Do I need to use a Discovery Bank account for my Discovery Insure debit order?
You don't need to use a Discovery Bank account for your Discovery Insure debit order. You can choose any bank account for the debit order.
What's a premium?
A premium is the amount of money you must pay every month for your insurance policy.
Insurance cover and plan options
What does comprehensive insurance include?
Comprehensive insurance includes cover for the loss of your vehicle or damage to it because of theft, hijacking, hail, storm, fire, lightning, explosion, or malicious or accidental damage. We cover theft of sound equipment only if the vehicle was entered by force or violence.
Can I get only third-party, fire and theft cover?
You can't get only third-party, fire and theft cover. We only offer comprehensive cover.
What's the difference between the Classic and Essential plans?
The main difference between the Classic and Essential motor vehicle insurance plans is the level of benefits and flexibility they offer. The Classic Plan gives you more comprehensive options and you can earn higher Vitality Drive rewards, while the Essential Plan is more budget-friendly with fewer extras.
I want the Purple Plan, so why can't I see it in the app?
If you're interested in the Purple Plan, please call Discovery Insure on 0860 751 751 to help you. For now, you can only choose between the Classic and Essential plans in the Discovery Bank app.
What's the insured value type?
The insured value type describes the basis of your vehicle's valuation. Your vehicle can be insured at the retail value, market value, or a specified value.
Where does the retail or market value come from?
The retail or market value comes from an independent service that tracks current vehicle prices. It considers your vehicle's mileage, condition, service history and accident reports.
What's the nominated value, and what must I enter?
The nominated value is the value you believe to be the current retail value of your vehicle, with adjustments made for its mileage and condition, if you sold it. Enter the amount you estimate your vehicle is currently worth.
What are the 15% and 25% retail value booster options?
The 15% and 25% retail value booster options give you the choice to insure your vehicle at its retail value plus either 15% or 25%.
When can't I get scratch and dent cover?
You can't get scratch and dent cover if a complete vinyl wrap has been applied to your vehicle.
What's the car hire extender?
The car hire extender allows you to extend the standard car hire period from 30 days to 60 days after making a claim.
Vehicle and driver information
What's a VIN or vehicle registration number?
The VIN is a unique identification code that each vehicle gets when it's built.
The vehicle registration number is the licence number you get from the authority where you register the vehicle. This is the number on the front and back number plates of the vehicle.
Where can I find the VIN number?
You can see the VIN number on the licence disc on the bottom left side of your vehicle's windshield and also in the vehicle's registration documents.
If you don't have the vehicle yet, you can get this information from your dealership, or use the vehicle make, model and year to get a quote.
The vehicle details from my registration or VIN are wrong. What should I do?
If the vehicle details from your registration or VIN are wrong, you can manually select the correct year, make, and model from the dropdown options in the Discovery Bank app to get a quote.
Can I get a quote if I don't have a registration number or VIN?

I use my vehicle for both business and private purposes. Which option must I choose?
If you use your vehicle for both business and private purposes, select the purpose for which you use your vehicle the most.
What's the difference between private and professional use and business use?
The difference between private and professional use and business use:
- Private and professional use means you use your vehicle for social and private purposes, including travel between home and your regular place of work, and occasionally for business purposes, but not more than six occasions in a calendar month. This cover doesn't include carrying goods for business purposes.
- Business use means that in addition to private and professional use, you can use your vehicle as an essential part of the work or function you perform. Your cover includes the occasional carrying of goods for business purposes, but not more than six occasions in a calendar month.
Who's the primary driver?
The primary driver is the person who'll be driving the vehicle the most.
Will my vehicle be covered if it's in an accident and the primary driver wasn't driving?
If your vehicle is in an accident and the primary driver wasn't driving, it will be covered, but the excess you pay may be higher.
I don't have a South African driver's licence; I have a foreign driver's licence.

What do I do if I don't know the cost of the vehicle extras I have?

What are factory-fitted optional extras, and what are aftermarket optional extras?
Factory-fitted optional extras come with the vehicle when you buy it. Aftermarket extras are ones you choose to add after buying the vehicle.
How do I get my address validated?
To validate your address, please enter the address where your vehicle is parked most of the time. If the banking app doesn't show this address, tap Address not in list and Discovery Insure will call you back.
Tracking devices and security
Which vehicle tracking device does Discovery Insure prefer?
Discovery Insure has no preferred vehicle tracking device, but for vehicles at high risk the Insure Crowd Search Sensor will automatically be included in the quote.
What's the Insure Crowd Search Sensor?
The Insure Crowd Search Sensor is a type of tracking or stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) device to protect your vehicle at a monthly fee.
What's mandatory stolen vehicle recovery (SVR)?
Mandatory stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) is a requirement for vehicles rated as high risk. It means that your vehicle must have a tracking device fitted to qualify for the insurance plan.
Must my vehicle have a tracker or stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) device?
Your vehicle must have a tracker or stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) device if it's rated as high risk.
- If your vehicle doesn't need a tracker, you can still choose to have an Insure Crowd Search Sensor at a monthly SVR fee.
- If your vehicle has an SVR/tracker with any third-party provider, you can either keep that or switch to the Insure Crowd Search Sensor at a monthly SVR fee.
- If your vehicle must have the Insure Crowd Search Sensor, it will automatically be selected in the quote screen and you won't be able to de-select it. There is a monthly SVR fee.
Vitality Drive and rewards
What's Vitality Drive?
Vitality Drive is Discovery Insure's unique behaviour-centred driver programme that rewards you for driving well. Vitality Drive uses the latest vehicle telematics technology to collect information about your driving behaviour, like acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding, night-time driving, distance driven and cellphone use. By driving well, you can earn points that translate into a Vitality Drive status and rewards like monthly fuel cash back and Uber discounts.
I want to remove Vitality Drive from my quote.
Removing Vitality Drive from your quote is not possible because it's automatically included with your insurance.
